 Most people don’t realize that chickens have been bred to lay an unnatural amount of eggs, and it can be really hard on their bodies. Constant egg laying can lead to serious health issues like calcium depletion, reproductive infections, egg binding, prolapse, and even early death. Hormone implants help stop or greatly reduce egg laying, giving their bodies a chance to rest and heal so they can live longer, healthier lives.

The implants don’t last the exact same amount of time for every chicken — some wear off around every 3 months, while others last closer to 4 months — so staying on top of them is really important for keeping the girls safe and comfortable. If you’re able to donate, you’d be helping give them the chance at a longer, healthier life where they can just be chickens without their bodies constantly working against them. 🐔
