THE PEOPLE

Christina- Founder

Animals have always held a special place in my heart—I’ve been drawn to them for as long as I can remember. Growing up, two of the movies I was obsessed with were Born Free and Free Willy. Wherever I went, I always felt pulled toward finding the animals. Being around them has always felt like where I was meant to be.

For a while, I was pursing a career in the medical field. I was searching for a way to help and heal, even though I hadn’t quite found my place yet. Along the way, pet sitting and dog walking naturally pulled me closer to animals, and that path eventually led me to farm sanctuaries—where everything changed.

In March of 2019, I visited Farm Sanctuary in California and it completely shifted my perspective. I left that trip vegan and knew there was no turning back. From that moment on, animal rescue stopped being just something I cared about and became what I knew I was meant to do.

Since then, I’ve worked in animal rescue, volunteered at multiple sanctuaries, and become deeply involved in animal transport—helping animals move from unsafe situations to places where they can finally be cared for. Rescue work is hard, emotional, and often heartbreaking, but it’s also incredibly meaningful. I’m grateful for every animal I’ve had the chance to care for, including the ones I’ve loved and lost, and I keep going for all the ones who still need help.

My dream for Free To Be Fearless is to focus on fostering, healing, and finding permanent, loving homes for farm animals, while also helping any other animals in need who cross our path.

I’m so excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to see what the future holds and all the animals we’ll be able to help along the way.

Sheryl- Board President

Sheryl has been in animal rescue for over 20 years. She was vegetarian for many years and then over a decade ago realized she wanted to make a bigger impact and adopted the vegan lifestyle.

She brings so much knowledge, compassion and dedication to our rescue. She is one of the hardest working and most dedicated people to animals that I have ever met.

When she’s not with her rescued animals at the sanctuary she works at, she is loving her rescues at home, helping to care for other people’s companion animals or taking care of the feral cat colony she feeds.

Sheryl works closely with law enforcement on local animal rescue calls. She has her wildlife rehabilitator license and is a foster parent to rescued orphaned elephants in Kenya.

She is a huge driving force behind Free to be Fearless and I know she is extremely excited to help make a positive difference in so many more animals lives.

Nicole- Board member

Nicole has always been a big animal lover. She has two rescue cats of her own that she absolutely adores (and might torture them a little with clothing). Her real great love is great white sharks, and her favorite time of year (aside from the fall) is shark week.

Nicole is one the kindest people I have ever known and is always willing to help out whenever needed and will never say no.

She has been to several farm animal sanctuaries and has been very helped with rescue transports. After meeting Michael the turkey on a behind the scenes tour at Catskill Animal Sanctuary about 5 years ago she decided immediately that she could no longer consume animals.

She brings nothing but commitment and compassion to our rescue and we are all excited for this new adventure and helping as many as we can.
